This gem is a small-sized, brightly coloured pitta measuring nearly 17 cm in duration. It has a normal smaller blue tail and the two sexes clearly show dimorphism. The male incorporates a glittering blue crown, black cheeks, reddish-brown mantle and black wings that are marked with white. From li
